AssetLock® Investor FAQs

What is AssetLock and how is it different from other investment monitoring technologies?

AssetLock is an investment portfolio monitoring service that delivers personalized communications to investors in a secure environment. AssetLock is different from other monitoring technologies because it communicates a household portfolio’s progress according to the investor’s predetermined personal risk threshold.

Is AssetLock a stop-loss investment strategy?

AssetLock is NOT a stop-loss strategy. Should the investor’s portfolio breach its AssetLock Value, the investor and their advisor will be notified. The advisor will contact the investor to determine if portfolio allocation adjustments are necessary.

What is the AssetLock Threshold and how is it determined?

The AssetLock Threshold is the investor-driven acceptable range of downside loss determined by the household and portfolio Value at Risk Scores.

What is the AssetLock Value and how is it determined?

The AssetLock Value is the household portfolio value at which AssetLock will alert the investor and advisor. This value is determined by subtracting the AssetLock Threshold from the High-Water Value.

Why does AssetLock monitor and communicate on the investor’s household portfolio?

AssetLock monitors and communicates changes regarding a household portfolio instead of individual accounts because it provides a comprehensive benchmark. This approach aggregates the value of all investment accounts inside the portfolio and their respective combined risk profile for the investor.

Will AssetLock monitor an annuity that a household owns?

Yes. AssetLock will monitor an annuity as part of the household portfolio if the annuity has been added to the investor’s asset list in the Client Portal.

What notifications will investors receive and how frequently will they receive them?

Household portfolio notifications are delivered on Saturdays at 11:00 am ET. These notifications include weekly account and dividend summaries. Daily alerts are sent when reaching new account highs, when breaching the AssetLock Value, when communication preferences are updated, and if the financial advisor has discontinued AssetLock.

Will the investor be able to view their AssetLock Value and alert status inside the Client Portal?

Currently, no. This will be a future enhancement of AssetLock.

Data Management and Security

How does AssetLock protect investor information?

AssetLock leverages industry-leading data management and security platforms. These platforms are designed to comply with all the major Assurance Programs, ensuring the data is protected to the standards of the most security-sensitive organizations across all industries.

Where does the investor’s money go with AssetLock?

The investor’s money will be held in an investment account with their advisor’s custodian. AssetLock does not have access to anyone’s funds.

Troubleshooting and Contact Information Preference Updates

How does an investor update their contact information or stop receiving some or all notifications?

Investors should contact their financial advisor to confirm their current contact information and the active status of their AssetLock subscription. If they are still not receiving email communications, they should check their spam folder and report these emails as “not spam.” If they cannot receive messages, they must contact their financial advisor for additional support.

How does an investor update their contact information or stop receiving text and/or email notifications?

Investors should contact their advisors to update their contact information and communication preferences. They may also opt out of text messages by replying “STOP” to the AssetLock text message or selecting the “Unsubscribe” link at the bottom of the AssetLock email.

Investment advisory and financial planning services are offered through Simplicity Wealth, LLC, an SEC-registered investment adviser. SEC registration does not constitute an endorsement of the firm, nor does it indicate that the adviser has attained a particular level of skill or ability. AssetLock® is tracking software used to monitor the performance of a client’s household portfolio, and to predetermine the amount of downside the client is willing to tolerate. It is NOT an actual stop order and will NOT automatically sell the individual securities in the household portfolio. The AssetLock® Value is a reference point to encourage a conversation between the advisor/firm and the client to determine if the client’s household portfolio should remain unchanged, reset the AssetLock® Threshold by reallocating to a different risk profile, or liquidate part or all of their household portfolio. AssetLock® will send the client and their advisor alerts when the household portfolio reaches the client’s determined values, new all-time highs and/or the maximum targeted amount of downside the client is willing to accept. The client and their advisor are notified about changes in the client’s household portfolio. This notification requires that the client is subscribed to receive text message and/or email alerts from AssetLock®. Message frequency varies. Standard message and data rates may apply.
